Prussian Blue: A Victorian Cyanotype Salon
Slip behind the velvet curtain into the indigo hush of a Victorian parlor. In this intimate cyanotype photogram salon, participants will be introduced to the rich history of cyanotype while working with turn-of-the-century figure negatives, dressing them with lace, pearls, and other delicate embellishments. The atmosphere is one of Storyville boudoir and blue alchemy, steeped in beauty, history, and a touch of mischief.
Artists, educators, and Salem locals Nathan and Molly Lewis will guide guests through the cyanotype process as they build an embellished figure study, expose it to light, tint it with a special blend of Diehl & Marcus tea, and rinse the print to reveal its deep Prussian blue. Each participant will leave with a finished cyanotype that feels dramatic, sensual, and distinctly their own.
